Fly Fishing

With 90,000+ fish stocked in its waters annually, it’s no wonder Jackson County is recognized as the North Carolina Trout Capital®.

The Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail is a concept expertly conceived and managed by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and is not a single destination but instead is an odyssey of fifteen different rivers and streams. The Trail steers anglers to pursue brook, brown and rainbow trout on a mix of managed and wild trout waters in a variety of settings.

The heart of the trail, the Tuckasegee River, is the county’s largest body of water. With 90,000+ fish stocked in its waters annually, it’s no wonder Jackson County is recognized as the North Carolina Trout Capital®.
