Jackson County is home to three whitewater rivers. The Tuckasegee, Oconaluftee and Chattooga rivers offer everything from a leisurely float to a wild rapid adventure. Whether you’re looking for expert-level kayaking or rafting or to cool off on a hot summer day, there is something for everyone! Guided trips are available, through several local outfitters, who will be happy to rent equipment and assist in planning an outing that won’t disappoint. For a little bit of everything, check out Tuckaseegee Outfitters, Smoky Mountain River Adventures and/or North Carolina Rafting; as well as Nantahala Outdoor Center in nearby Swain County!
